Scientific projects

SEDNA has been involved in several interesting scientific projects all around Mediterranean sea. We are convinced that by helping scientists to explain their research through images and concise speeches we can spread out their voice for conservation and reach out to the public.

L'odyssée de nos déchets

What happens to the waste that, due to human negligence, ends up in our natural environment? Follow their epic tale of unpredictable consequences! A video for the REDPLAST66 project, which traces and quantifies waste found in nature from its origine to its terminus, and finds solutions so turn the tide. Together, let's write another story!

Cetaceans monitoring

Why is it important to monitor cetaceans? How can this help in their conservation? Which efforts are already being made in the Mediterranean sea? This video shows how MedPAN's training program on monitoring and conservation of cetaceans can help managers of Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas answer those questions.

The book of Marine Protected Areas

This short movie wants to tell a true story of depletion of the Mediterranean Sea following the increase of human population and fish demand. From healthy environments at the beginning of the century, fish stocks overexploitation led to ecosystem shifts in many coastal areas, where important macroalgal habitats were overgrazed by sea urchins, and replaced by marine deserts.

A succession of drawings and videos show how well-managed marine protected areas, where the collaboration among managers, stakeholders and scientists is achieved, represent one of the best solutions to prevent and, sometimes reverse, this negative trend and restore our sea.
